The Blue Man Group Review

By Amner Juniper

It happened to me last week when my friend had two tickets for the Blue Man group show and this was the first instance when I had a chance of witnessing the live performance of this amazing group. Though I had read a lot about the Blue Man group in the internet and newspapers about their mind blowing performances, I have never gone for any of their live shows. But after witnessing that particular performance the previous week, I went for nearly twelve shows as of now. So, I thought it is of utmost importance that I write an article about the Blue man group.

These guys are amazing with their performances. Each of their live shows creates a blissful party atmosphere and they are very distinct from most of the music bands simply because of their uniqueness. All their shows are combined with music, comedy and multimedia theatrics in such a manner that you will be left dumbfounded at the end of the day. So, I thought I would take some time in writing an article on this unique band or group (this would be more appropriate), giving some reviews about their performances and the live events which concluded recently.

The Blue Man group show is one of the longest running theatrical shows in the entire United States and I am really ashamed of the fact that I never witnessed any of their performances earlier. Each show would have three mysterious performers masked with a blue bald cap. These performers are normally referred to as people with no ears. The attire of these three performers is completely black. This trio of performers has expertise in various fields of non-verbal communication, dancing, percussion etc. The other interesting thing about these performers is the fact that they are of the same physical traits and features.

The themes of the Blue man group show is normally science and technology where they explain the nuances of technology, its correct use, the adverse effects if not used properly etc. Their other themes include portraying innocence, imitating the culture, mime, peace etc. I would rate this group as the best ever theatrical art group and I am sure that there will be no other group that would outperform these excellent performers. I would also like to ask you all to promote this band to the maximum possible limit so that theatrical art never dies.

So, I urge all of you to personally go and watch their live performance. Blue man group tickets can be purchased very easily. And the most important thing is that they conduct several shows in a day. So, even if you find it difficult to buy tickets for one particular show, you can very well adjust with the other scheduled show. The easiest way of getting blue man group tix is the internet. - 30404

A Closer Look At MP3 Players

By David Morris

Time to release your music on an MP3 player which are also known as MP4 players. The clever random mode on an MP3 player shuffles up your songs, playing them randomly. You can also store all your songs on a player small enough to fit in your pocket. But where does your MP3 player hold all your music?

The first iPods, which made MP3 players popular worldwide, had inbuilt hard drive to store music. Hard drives give an MP3 player lots of memory to store files. For example both Apple and Archos have MP3 players with hard drives that have 160GB capacity. MP3 players that use hard drives are much heavier, more bulky and also use more energy than those that don't.

Newer MP3 players use flash memory, in fact almost all MP3 players made now are fitted with internal flash memory. They can often hold an additional SD memory card to increase the overall player storage capacity.

Both manufactures and consumers have found benefits with flash memory based MP3 players. As a flash memory chip is very small compared to a hard drive, it means that manufactures can create very small MP3 players. Flash memory also uses considerably less energy, and so there are big improvements in battery life.

While flash memory is popular, there are some drawbacks. Flash memory has much more limited storage, usually between 8GB to 16GB, when compared to hard drive, especially when compared to the 160GB models from Apple and Archos. It can also be expensive to purchase additional memory cards to add to the player.

There's more to an MP3 player than just music. Almost all MP3 players now come with a color display in a range of different sizes. The smallest are usually 1.8 inch and they can be as big as 4.3 inch or 5 inch. This has transformed MP3 players into videos players too. While watching full length movies on 1.8 inch screen may not be practical, it's still fun to watch short video clips or music videos. The larger screen MP3 players can come with 16:9 ratio screen, and it's a perfect way to watch movie. - 30404

Learning to Play the Violin in Easy Steps

By Aaron Piertzen

Learning to play the violin can be one of the most challenging goals that you undertake. Although the violin is a beautiful instrument with lovely tone, it can be an extraordinarily difficult instrument to master. Here are some tips, however, that can get you started.

While the violin is most notably used in classical music, it has a place in all genres of music, making it a very versatile instrument. When used in an orchestra, it is usually the main instrument used for the melody.

Finding a quiet place where you can concentrate without being interrupted is one of the first things that you need to do when learning to play the violin. A straight back chair, as well as a music stand to hold your sheet music, are two very good things to include in this space.

Using one of your one of your thumbs, pluck each string in order to hear its pitch and to check its tension. If you're just starting out, you might want to think about using a piano or a pitch pipe to tune the instrument to G-D-A-E.

After that, at the place where the fingerboard and neck extend out from the instrument, enclose your left hand around the body. Position the violin and the chin rest, the black part of the violin, under your chin. Don't forget to bring your left shoulder over so that it is located under the chin rest. This will help support you.

Now, arrange your right thumb at the corner of the fingerboard, close to the bridge. Your index finger should be situated on top of the "G" string. With just a little bit of pressure, your finger should then land on the "D" string. This is what is called "plucking."

Plus the "G" string 4 times not using your fingernails. Work on creating a rhythm. Using the same method, do the same thing with the "D", "A", and "E" strings. Once you get familiar with this, mix up the order while still keeping it slow.

Now you are probably ready to try out the bow. Position your right thumb on the inside of the bow with your three middle fingers on the outside. Your pinkie should be near the adjustment screw, on top. It is also important to let your index finger relax on top of the bow stick.

Using some pressure, position the bow hair on top of the "G" string. Draw a straight line until you reach the end and then go in the opposite direction. You should do this slowly in the beginning to get the feel of it.

These are the fundamental steps in learning to play the violin. Naturally, it does get more complex after this. Still, even though you might find it hard to master at first, don't forget to have patience and continuing to practice. The more you play, the more you will learn how much pressure to apply and how to make balanced rhythms. - 30404
