They Only Kill Their Masters hit the screens in 1972. Extraordinary cast in difficult modem-night whodunit set in coastal California town; tries for Daniel Hammett sensation, does not relatively make it. Cop Garner tries to resolve massacre of pregnant female, with fearsome Doberman pinscher figuring prominently. Not poor, yet a disappointment. Cast includes James Garner, Katharine Ross, Hal Holbrook, Harry Guardino, June Allyson, Peter Lawford, and Ann Rutherford.

The Defiant in 1958 is a preoccupying account of 2 runaway convicts, one black and one white who are chained together as they escape from the penitentiary in the South. Fine performances by Williams and Chaney as individuals they meet during the voyage. Academy Prize for screenplay by Harold Jacob Smith and Nathan E. Cast includes Tony Curtis, Sidney Poitier, Theodore Bike, Charles McGraw, Carnie Williams, and Lon Chaney, Jr.

In 1999 Doug's First Movie from the superstar of TV's Doug is characterized in this bland, mechanical saga, designed entirely for kids. Easy going preteen Doug tries to show mercy to an animal in need conflict with his wish to take his lady friend to the school dance. This film was designed as a direct-to-video production. Voices of Thomas McHugh, Fred Newman, Chris Phillips, Constance Shulman, Doug Preis, and Alice Playten.

Each Dawn I Die from 1939. Reporter Cagney is framed, and sent to the prison where he meets a dangerous inmate, Raft. There is exceptional acting all around. Cagney hits a white-hot summit with his character, however the last half of movie gets to be outrageously far-fetched. Music score composed by Max Steiner. Cast includes James Cagney, George Raft, George Bancroft, Jane Bryan, Maxie Rosenbloom, Stanley Ridges, Louis Jean Heydt, Abner Biberman, John Wray, Victor Jory, and Thurston Chamber.

The Meteor Man from 1993. Townsend plays a cautious, nerdy school teacher with a fear of heights who gets hit by an odd bright green meteor that turns him into a superhero. Excellent "Superman in the Hood" narrative, filled of good values, but very few truly funny moments. Cast includes Robert Townsend, Marla Gibbs, Eddie Griffin, Robert Guillaume, James Earl Jones, Roy Fegan, and Bill Cosby.

Ivan the Terrible, continuation of the fable of King Ivan IV, in which he takes on the boyars in a battle for power. Remarkable dvd is just a trace underneath its predecessor, Restricted by Stalin due to arguable illustration of Ivan's secret patrol, and not released till 1958. Cast includes Nikolai Cherkassov; Serafima Birman, Mikhail Nazvanov, Pavel Kadochnikov, and Andrei Abrikosov.

Sugar Town - Entertaining mosaic of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives unite - a musician aspirant who will do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone woman who allures the wrong men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up '80s rock megastars, to name a few. Made on a shoestring, although intelligent and well recognized; tremendous cast contains a number of actual musicians. Cast includes Ally Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp. - 30404
