Rude Boy: Enraged youthful insurgent Gange is employed by the rock group The Conflict as a roadie. The film is an abrasive, practical, documentary-like personality research with phenomenal footage. Rock fans will not be disappointed, others take heed. Cast includes David Mingay, The Conflict, Ray Gange, John Green, Barry Baker, Terry McQuade, and Caroline Coon. (133 minutes, 1980)

Jack Frost: A neglectful dad dies in an automobile mishap and comes to life one year later as a snowman in his child's front yard! Nice, likable acting and an absence of violence make this an alright family film. However, it on no account conquers its quintessential issue, an extremely weird premise. Cast includes Michael Keaton, Kelly Preston, Mark Addy, Joseph Cross, Henry Rollins, and Dweezil Zappa. (95 minutes, 1998)

Bullitt: Definitive McQueen antihero part that he grows to love. As a cop trying to keep is witness alive. McQueen see a lot of bloodshed as the mob is out to kill the man he must protect. Cast includes Steve McQueen, Robert Vaughn, Jacqueline Bisset, Don Gordon, and Robert Duvall. (113 minutes, 1968)

Hold That Ghost: Prime Abott and Costello, with the boys inheriting a haunted home. Fine cast contains humorous Davis as virtuoso stereo screamer. A highlight is the moving candle. Cast includes Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Richard Carlson, Joan Davis, Mischa Auer, Evelyn Ankers, Marc Lawrence, Shemp Howard, Ted Lewis, and The Andrews Sisters. (86 minutes, 1941)

Cry Freedom: An empathetic film in dealing with the life of South African activist Steve Biko (well played by Washington) and his kinship with crusading newspaper editor Donald Woods (Kline). Regrettably second half of film, minus the Biko personality, loses itself as it invests too much time on Kline and his families flee from South Africa. Cast includes Kevin Kline, Penelope Wilton, Denzel Washington, Kevin McNally, John Defrost, Timothy West, Juanita Waterman, John Hargreaves, Alec McCowen, Zakes Mokae, and Ian Richardson. (157 minutes, 1987)

Alien Nation: In the near future, a race of strange-looking aliens is gradually (and grudgingly) being integrated into civilization. Worldweary L.A. cop Caan takes one of the aliens on as his partner, so he could track down the aliens who murdered his prior associate. Cast includes James Caan, Mandy Patinkin, Terence Stamp, Kevin Chief Howard, and Leslie Bevins. (94 minutes, 1988)

AI Artificial Intelligence: In the near future, scientist Hurt and his team create a highly advanced android kid who might experience feelings, containing love. His adoption by a nice couple who have lost a child is riddled with complications. This enthralling tale draws us in, thanks in part to Osment's magnificent performance. Cast includes Haley Joel Osment, Jude Ordinance, Frances O'Connor, Brendan Gleeson, Sam Robards, William Hurt, Jake Thomas, Ken Leung, Michael Mantell, and Adrian Grenier. (145 minutes, 2001)

Lust for Life: This is a bright adaptation of Irving Rock's biography of painter Van Gogh, vividly depicting his anguished life. Quinn captured a well-warranted 'Oscar for his performance as painter-Guy Gauguin, in this attractive color production. Cast includes Kirk Douglas, Anthony Quinn, James Donald, Pamela Brown, Everett Sloane, Niall MacGinnis, Noel Purcell, Henry Daniell, Jill Bennett, Lionel Jeffries, and Eric Pohlmann. (122 minutes, 1956)

The Little Thief: So-so personality picture of the title lass, a disassociated, amoral adolescent floating though life in postwar France. If she comes off as a girl Antoine Doinel, it's since the original tale was co written by Francois Truffuut, who was allegedly preparing to film this at the time of his demise. Cast includes Charlotte Gainsbourg, Didier Bezace, Simon de la Brosse, Nathalie Cardone, and Raoul Billerey. (104 minutes, 1989)
